Position Summary
THE COMPANY
Mon Ami is a trailblazing SaaS startup dedicated to revolutionizing the senior services market. With over $15M in backing from top VCs, we’re transforming how social services are delivered to older adults and people with disabilities. Our mission is to empower agencies that provide essential services through Medicare, Medicaid and the Older Americans Act, enhancing the well-being of our most vulnerable disabled and older Americans.
We value high performance and high enjoyment. In addition to having the privilege of working hard on a mission we believe in, we get to do it on a team we genuinely respect and like being around. Our hybrid/remote company of 35 people gets together in person 2x per year for board games, cooking competitions, and time outdoors. In between those retreats, we make time for 1-1 connections across the company. We have a truly flat hierarchy: ideas for innovation that come from our interns make it into the hands of our users. Founded by two women of color, we know diversity in our team leads to higher quality decisions, so we continually invest in recruiting from under-represented groups and maintaining an inclusive environment.
THE POSITION
Mon Ami seeks a full-time position of Senior Analyst as part of the Data and Analytics team. You will have ownership over building engaging and relevant embedded reports into our product that our customers can rely on for everything from their complex federal reporting requirements to helping them improve the effectiveness of how they serve disabled and older Americans.
The focus of the position will be:
- Building dashboards and reports that not only “wow” our customers when we show them the insights we can unlock for them, but they can rely on to use every single day in some cases.
- Writing specifications and report plans with product managers and customer success for earlier-career analysts on the team or for analytics engineers who’ll help you get our data warehouse in a manageable state.
- Engaging with our analytics engineers to turn our data into a product – curating meaningful self-service experiences for our organizations, looking for ways to automate persistent tasks and more.
- Working closely and collaboratively with our customers – either directly from them or through our colleagues – to understand their needs and help them make better decisions with the data our platform helps them collect.
RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be part of the Data and Analytics team, and work with many mes-amis. You will work with data directly from our core technology platform, ingested data from external sources and in both the data layer and BI layer as needed. Below is a sampling of projects:
- Build a suite of standard reports for a new product feature as its released – help decide how the product will be built to enable better analytics experiences,
- Add essential columns and metrics to our data warehouse layers – DBT, Looker – and document their usage for self-service users who’ll rely on them. Collaborate and spec plans with our analytics engineers for bigger efforts.
- With colleagues in other departments, interview customers on their core data pain points and the decisions they are trying to make with the help of our platform.
- Communicate complicated technical solutions to mes-amis in a friendly and easy to understand way
- Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned. Projects may be open-edned and require scoping from beginning to end.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years experience or equivalent capability in a relevant data and analytics role (data analyst, data scientist, engineer) with a heavy emphasis on producing meaningful insights for/with stakeholders
- 3+ years experience building reports and dashboard in business intelligence (Looker, Sigma, Thoughtspot, etc) applications that are used by individuals with a variety of technical capabilities
- 3+ years of deep experience interacting with SQL and optimizing it as needed
- 1+ years experience or equivalent capability using a scripting language (e.g. Python, R, etc.) for custom insights generation and/or automation needs
- Familiarity with CRM technologies and the type of data challenges they produce, ideally within a healthcare environment.
- Comfort with creating both simple, effective data visualizations and complex ones when truly needed (but know enough about when that tradeoff is needed)
- Expert in applying common software engineering best practices to reporting and analytics (e.g. interacting with file systems, using version control, github workflows, test driven development, etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Some experience in automating data related tasks, and building out CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of basic U/X and design principles
- History of providing mentorship to earlier career team members growing as analysts/engineers
- Experience with health related data (HIPAA and security compliances)
