Associate Director for Data Systems and Engineering

Position Summary

This position oversees the databases and data infrastructure of the AFL-CIO and manages the other infrastructure staff member in the department, the Lead Data Engineer.

The Infrastructure team is responsible for the massive tech stack of the AFL-CIO that provides critical support across multiple departments. This position will be responsible for overseeing a full audit and inventory of our tech stack in order to decide whether to continue to support the Oracle-based systems, move to off-the-shelf infrastructure or find another solution built in-house.

This team is also tasked with continuing to build on the data warehouse and engineering work we’re currently doing for the Federation and affiliates, which the associate director will oversee in close coordination with our Analytics team. This position provides an opportunity for a motivated, self-starter to apply creative solutions to infrastructure planning and development.
